Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The standard OP09-051 rare printing has broad supply and modest price movement, while premium variants should remain collectible due to Buggy's popularity and cross-arc significance. The market appears to be normalizing after release, with occasional spikes on premium versions rather than sustained explosive growth.
Next months. Base copies should remain low-priced and stable, while alt-art and manga-style variants may fluctuate with listing scarcity and grading demand.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, premium versions are more likely to appreciate gradually if Buggy remains prominent in the franchise, while the base rare should stay relatively affordable unless competitive relevance unexpectedly increases.
History
Buggy the Clown is a long-running character from One Piece, originally introduced as a pirate captain and later elevated into a major comedic-antagonist figure who becomes one of the series' most iconic opportunists. He is known for his clown appearance, split-body powers from the Chop-Chop Fruit, exaggerated cowardice, and absurd luck. In the card game, this version reflects his rise to power as a Cross Guild-associated emperor-level figure, making him a high-impact boss card that fits his status as a deceptive but influential pirate.
First released in English in the 2024 set Emperors in the New World (OP09), as card OP09-051. The card is also associated with a special alternate-art 'Wanted Poster' style variant in the English market.
- OP09-051 is a 10-cost Blue Character with 12000 power and the Slash attribute.
- Its effect can remove one of the opponent's Characters by placing it at the bottom of the deck, but it can also self-remove unless you meet the condition of controlling 5 Characters with cost 5 or more.
- The card was reprinted in the BLUE Buggy starter/product line (ST25), but the original OP09 printing remains the key collectible version for this release.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for edge whitening, corner wear, surface scuffs, print lines, centering, and foil scratching if the card is a parallel/alt-art version. For the 'Wanted Poster' style alt art, look carefully for any texture, foil pattern consistency, and clean borders, as these are the most visible grading factors. Because One Piece cards can show surface damage easily, inspect under angled light for scratches and roller marks.
Storage. Store in a clean penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder, ideally with a perfect-fit inner sleeve for graded submission candidates. Keep away from heat, humidity, and direct light. For high-value alt-art copies, use fresh sleeves and avoid repeated handling to preserve surface and edge quality.
Authenticity. Verify the exact card number OP09-051, set symbol, color, cost, power, and text alignment against known authentic scans. Counterfeits often show incorrect font weight, blurry text, poor holo texture, or off-color printing. For alt-art Wanted Poster versions, confirm the artwork style, finish, and printing sharpness match official Bandai releases. Compare with trusted databases such as official card listings or major marketplace reference images. Reprints like ST25 should not be mistaken for the original OP09 collectible version; confirm the set code carefully.
