Market outlook
Rising Outlook 8/10
The card's status as a 'bomb' in sealed play and its versatility for red leaders will sustain demand. As the set ages and packs are consumed, the scarcity of Full Art Secret Rare copies will increase, leading to price appreciation
Next months. Next 3-6 months: Prices will likely rise 15-25% for raw Full Art copies, with graded copies seeing similar gains due to increasing scarcity
Long term. 1-3 years: Prices are expected to double for raw Full Art copies and potentially triple for graded 10 graded copies, driven by the long-term appeal of Whitebeard and the set's age
History
Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard, is one of the legendary 'Four Emperors' of the One Piece world. He was the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and a close friend of Gol D. Roger. His significance stems from his immense power, his role in the Great Age of Pirates, and his death at the Battle of Marineford, which triggered the largest war in the series [1][6][9]
This card was first released in the ONE PIECE CARD GAME booster pack 'THE TIME OF BATTLE' [OP-16] on June 12, 2026, in the Japanese market and subsequently in the English version [3][9]

- The card is a high-demand character from a popular anime, driving up collector interest and limiting available copies
Collector notes
Condition. Key flaws to check include centering issues, edge wear on the foil layer, and surface scratches on the full art. Since it is a Secret Rare with a foil and full art variant, the holographic layer is prone to micro-scratches that can significantly reduce value. Foiling defects are common on this set [4][7]
Storage. Store in a rigid, non-PVC card sleeve (toploader) and keep in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight. Use a deed box or storage case to prevent bending. For graded copies, maintain the original grading case and avoid handling the edges [4]
Authenticity. Fakes often lack the crispness of the full art, have incorrect foil patterns, or show poor color saturation. Authentic cards have a distinct 'glow' from the Secret Rare foil and precise printing of the card number (OP16-003). Compare the card stock and weight to a known genuine copy from the same set [4][7]
