Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card has enduring collector appeal, but recent sales data shows the raw market moving within a relatively tight band rather than a clear breakout trend. Active trading volume and stable grade premiums suggest a mature market with steady demand.[1][3]
Next months. Likely to remain range-bound with small fluctuations in raw price and modest premium support for graded copies.
Long term. Likely to hold collector relevance well, with the best performance expected from gem-mint or visually strong copies rather than lower-grade raw copies.
History
Umbreon is one of the original Eeveelutions introduced in the Pokémon franchise as the Dark-type evolution of Eevee. It first appeared in the Johto-era games and became one of the most recognizable Pokémon from the franchise because of its sleek black design, moon-associated theme, and popularity with collectors and players. The VMAX version depicts Umbreon in Gigantamax-inspired styling used by the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Sword & Shield era, making this card part of the modern high-end alternate-art chase-card era.
First released in the English-language Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies expansion in 2021 as card 095/203. The standard card number 095/203 is the regular Umbreon VMAX; alternate-art and other special versions from the same era are among the most sought-after modern Umbreon cards. Market listings for the Evolving Skies Umbreon VMAX show the card as a 2021 release and track recent sales and listings under that set name.[1][3][4]
- Umbreon VMAX from Evolving Skies is a heavily traded modern chase card with active market data, including recent raw sales and graded 9 pricing.[1][3]
- PriceCharting shows graded 10 examples listed around $70, indicating that high-grade demand exists even as raw-market pricing fluctuates.[4]
- Evolving Skies is widely known among collectors for its Eeveelution cards, and Umbreon is the standout fan-favorite Dark-type evolution, which supports long-term collector interest.

- Umbreon is one of the most popular Eeveelutions, which concentrates demand on a limited pool of copies.
- Secret Rare and alternate-art style chase cards typically have lower pull rates than regular rares.
- High-grade copies are scarcer than raw copies because centering and surface condition are difficult to preserve.
Collector notes
Condition. Check for centering, edge whitening, corner wear, surface scratches, and holo/finish imperfections. For modern full-art and alternate-art style cards, print lines, roller marks, and factory silvering on edges are common condition issues. Front surface scratches can be difficult to see under normal light, so tilt inspection is important.
Storage. Store immediately in a clean penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder. Avoid repeated handling, keep away from humidity and sunlight, and use archival-quality sleeves if the card is intended for long-term holding or grading submission.
Authenticity. Authentic copies should match the correct Evolving Skies card number, texture, fonts, and print quality. Fakes often show blurry text, incorrect texture pattern, off-color borders, weak holo effect, or oversized/cropped artwork. Compare against known authentic scans and verify weight, edge quality, and the presence of proper Pokémon TCG card stock texture.
